# Follow your child's progress

For parents already on Onform: follow more than one child or coach, see what the coach can see about you, send the coach a clip from home, and control who sees your child's videos.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Recording a clip needs the iPhone, iPad or Android app.

New to Onform? Start with [Quick start: follow your child's progress](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/start-here/parent.md): it covers joining with your invite code, opening your first lesson and turning on notifications. This page picks up from there.

## Find your way around your child's workspace

Your child's workspace is usually named after your child (or their team). Inside it:

* **Your chat with the coach.** In a one-on-one workspace, **Chat** at the top is your chat with your child, and the coach is listed by name further down: tap their name to see what they've sent you and to message them. In a team, tap the coach's name under **Members**.
* **Groups**, such as **Everyone** in a team, reach everyone in the group at once.
* **Library** holds every video you can see in this workspace.

You see what the coach shares with you or with a group you're in. You don't see private messages between the coach and your child. If your child mentions a lesson you can't find, ask the coach to share it with you too.

## More than one child, or more than one coach

Use **one Onform account** for all of them. Each child's coach sends you a separate invite code, and each one adds that child's workspace to your Home screen.

1. On the Home screen, tap **Personal Account** (or the name of the organization you're in). It's at the bottom on iPhone and iPad, and at the top on Android and web.
2. Tap **Enter Invite Code** and enter the new code.

If your children train with different clubs or academies, each one appears as its own organization. Tap the account name on the Home screen to switch between them.

Sign in the same way every time (Apple, Google, Microsoft or an email code). A different sign-in method opens a separate, empty account, and the next code you enter there won't connect to your other children. See [Sign-in methods and more than one account](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/sign-in-and-accounts/sign-in-methods-and-more-than-one-account.md).

Don't sign in as your child, or let your child use your code. Each person needs their own code, and a code works only once.

## What the coach can see about you

* **Your name and role.** You're listed as a **Parent**, which is why Onform is free for you.
* **Whether you've joined.** Until you enter your code, the coach sees **pending join** next to your name.
* **When you watch a video they sent you.** The coach gets a notice that you watched it.
* **How you sign in.** To help with sign-in problems, the coach can check which method and email you joined with.
* **Anything you send them**: messages, and videos you share.

The coach can't see your other workspaces, or videos in your Library that you haven't shared.

## Send the coach a clip from home

Filmed some practice in the backyard, at the pool or on the range? Send it so the coach can see how it's going.

1. Open your child's workspace and tap the coach's name (or a group the coach is in).
2. To film now, tap the video camera icon. To send a video you already have, tap the folder icon and choose where it is, such as your camera roll or your Onform Library.
3. Add a short note, for example "Week 2 of the drill, 5 reps", and send it.

You can't record in the web app, but you can send a video you already have. If your child has their own account, they can send clips themselves too.

## Who can see your child's videos

* **The coach**, and in a club or academy, the admins and staff who work with your child.
* **Your child**, and anyone else in the workspace the video is shared with, such as you or another parent.
* **The whole team**, if a video is shared in the team's **Everyone** group, or if the workspace's **Library** is set to share every clip with everyone in it. If you'd rather your child's clips stayed between you, your child and the coach, ask the coach.
* **People outside Onform** only if someone sends them a copy or a link.

Videos you film yourself stay private in your Library until you share them. Once shared, you can stop the people you shared with from passing them on:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}
Touch and hold the video and tap **Restrict Further Sharing**. To unshare it, tap **Make Private**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
Tap the three dots next to the video and tap **Restrict Sharing**.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

Questions about how a club handles young athletes' videos are best asked of the club or coach directly. They decide how their workspaces are set up.

## Stop following, or leave

* **Too many notifications?** Turn them off for Onform in your phone's settings (on iPhone: **Settings** > **Onform** > **Notifications**). You'll still see everything when you open the app.
* **Leave a workspace:** open it, tap the three dots at the top, then **Leave This Workspace**. On iPhone and iPad you can also touch and hold the workspace on the Home screen. Your code won't work again, so if you want to come back, ask the coach to add you back or send a new invite.
* **Close your account completely:** see [Delete your account and data](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/privacy/delete-your-account-and-data.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/athletes/for-parents/follow-your-childs-progress.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
