# Why am I asked to pay?

Athletes connected to a coach use Onform for free. If you see an upgrade or 'free trial over' message, here's why and how to fix it.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

If your coach invited you, you use Onform **for free** under your coach's plan. You can record, import, and share videos with your coach. A paywall, an **Upgrade** message or a "free trial over" notice usually means one of the four things below, and each has a quick fix.

## 1. You're on your Personal Account instead of your coach's

Your coach's workspace lives under their organization, not your personal account.

1. On the Home screen, tap the account name (it may say **Personal Account**). It's at the bottom of Home on iPhone and iPad, and at the top on Android and web.
2. Switch to your coach's organization.

To check whether your coach covers you on Android or the web, tap your profile icon and look at **Upgrade**. If your coach's plan covers you, it says so, for example "Coach Sam Rivera is providing you athlete … access".

Coach Sam Rivera is providing you athlete access." width="420">

On Android

## 2. Your role is set to coach instead of athlete

Coach roles need a paid coaching license. If you picked Coach when you signed up, ask your coach to change your role to **Athlete**:

1. Your coach long-presses your name in the workspace and chooses **Edit Profile**.
2. They set your role to Athlete.

In an organization, the admin also changes your role in the organization's member list. Change your own profile's role to Athlete too.

## 3. You're signed in with a different account

If you accepted the invite with one sign-in method (say Google) and later signed in with another (say Apple), you have two accounts. Only the first one is connected to your coach. Sign out, then sign back in with the method you used to accept the invite. See [Sign-in methods and more than one account](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/sign-in-and-accounts/sign-in-methods-and-more-than-one-account.md).

## 4. Your app is out of date

Some versions showed these messages to athletes by mistake. Update Onform to version 4.7 or later from the App Store or Google Play. Then sign out, restart your device, and sign back in.

{% hint style="info" %}
A "free trial over" notice can stay on screen even when you're connected to a coach. If you can open your coach's workspace and its videos, you can ignore it.
{% endhint %}

## Still seeing it?

Email <support@onform.com> from the email you sign in with. Include your coach's name and a screenshot of the message.

## For coaches

When an athlete reports this, check their role in the workspace member list first. Athletes listed as Coach, Assistant or Other use a coach license. See [Staff, seats and roles](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/staff-seats-and-access/staff-seats-and-roles.md).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/athletes/join-your-coach/why-am-i-asked-to-pay.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
