# Send a video to your coach

Send your coach a practice clip from their workspace chat or from your Library, on iPhone, iPad, Android or the web, and know who can see your videos.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. You can't record in the web app, but you can send a video you already have.

Filmed a practice rep and want your coach's eye on it? Send it in your coach's chat, or share it from your Library. It's free: athletes and parents connected to a coach don't need a plan to send videos.

## Before you start

* You need to have joined your coach with your invite code. See [Join your coach with an invite code](/athletes/join-your-coach/join-your-coach-with-an-invite-code.md).
* If your coach works under an organization, make sure you're on it, not on your **Personal Account**: tap the account name on the Home screen (at the bottom on iPhone and iPad, at the top on Android and web) and choose your coach's organization.

## Send a video in your coach's chat

This is the quickest way: the video goes straight into your conversation with your coach.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap your coach's name, then tap **Chat**. In a team, open your private chat with your coach so only they see it.
2. Choose how to add the video:
   * To film a rep now, tap the video camera icon.
   * To send a video you already have, tap the folder icon and choose **Import From Camera Roll**, **Import From Files** or **Add From Onform Library**.
3. Add a short note, for example "Second serve, working on my toss", and send it.
   {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap your coach's name, then open the chat. In a team, open your private chat with your coach so only they see it.
2. Choose how to add the video:
   * To film a rep now, tap the video camera icon (Android app only).
   * To send a video you already have, tap the folder icon and choose **Import From Camera Roll**, **Import From Files** or **Add from Onform Library**.
3. Add a short note, for example "Second serve, working on my toss", and send it.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

## Share a video from your Library

Use this for videos you've already recorded or imported in your coach's workspace, or to send several at once.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. In your coach's workspace, open **Library**.
2. Touch and hold the video and tap **Share**. (Or open the video and tap **Share** at the top.)
3. On **Select Recipients**, tap your coach's name.
4. Tap **Next**, add a message if you like, then tap **Share With 1 Recipient**.

To send several videos, tap **Select** in the Library, tap each video, then tap the share button.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. In your coach's workspace, open **Library**.
2. Tap the three dots next to the video, then tap **Share**.
3. Tick your coach's name, add a message if you like, then tap **Send**.

To send several videos, touch and hold one video, tap the others, then tap the share icon at the top.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

{% hint style="info" %}
On iPhone and iPad you can also send a video straight from the Photos app: tap the share button, choose **Onform**, pick your coach's workspace and your coach, then tap **Share**.
{% endhint %}

## Who can see your videos

* **Videos you record or import stay private until you share them.** Joining your coach doesn't share your existing videos: your coach only sees the ones you send.
* The exception is a workspace your coach has set to share files automatically. You'll see **This library is default shared** at the top of the Library, and everyone in the workspace sees new videos as soon as they're added.
* A video you send in your private chat is seen by you and your coach. A video you send to a group, such as **Everyone** in a team, is seen by everyone in that group, which can include teammates and parents.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ---------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| You're asked to pay or upgrade when you send a video | You're probably on your **Personal Account**. Switch to your coach's organization (see Before you start), then try again. See [Why am I asked to pay?](/athletes/join-your-coach/why-am-i-asked-to-pay.md) |
| Your coach says they can't see your video | Check you sent it to your coach, not just saved it in your Library. Also check it finished uploading: keep Onform open with a good connection until it does. |
| Your coach isn't on your Home screen | You may be signed in with a different account, for example Apple on one device and Google on another. See [Sign-in methods and more than one account](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/sign-in-and-accounts/sign-in-methods-and-more-than-one-account.md). |
| **Share** isn't available yet | The video is still uploading. Wait until it finishes, then try again. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/athletes/practice-and-improve/how-to-athlete-share-to-coach.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
