# Add another coach to a workspace

Add an assistant coach, a colleague from your organization or an outside coach to an athlete's workspace or a team, make them an admin, or remove them.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

Add an assistant coach, a colleague or a specialist to an athlete's workspace or a team, so you can coach together. To add a parent instead, see [Keep parents informed](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/athletes-and-parents-in-your-program/keep-parents-informed.md).

## Before you start

* People you add with the **Coach** or **Other** role need their own Onform coach plan. See [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).
* In an organization, some staff can't add people. If you don't see the options below, ask your organization's admin.

## Add a coach

1. Open the workspace or team.
2. Tap the three dots next to its name, or **+** next to **Members**.
3. Choose one:
   * **Add Existing Staff Member** (organizations only): pick the colleagues you want and tap **Add**. They're added straight away, with no invite needed.
   * **Add External Person**: for a coach from outside your organization, or if you coach on your own. In an organization you'll first see the outside coaches you've already added: pick one, or tap **Add New**.
4. For a new person, on **New External Person**, choose their role: **Coach**, **Assistant Coach** or **Other**. (Your sport may use different words for the coach roles.) Enter their name.
5. Tap **Send Invite** and send them the invite code by text, email or any messaging app. Or tap **Add Without Sending Invite** and invite them later.

You'll see **pending join** next to their name until they enter the code. Each code is case-sensitive and works once. Joining works the same way as for athletes: see [Invite your athletes](/coaching/organize-your-athletes/invite-your-athletes.md).

## What the new coach sees

* **Chats:** they can message people in the workspace. Your private chats with others stay private.
* **Videos in a default shared workspace:** they see every video already in the Library, and every new one.
* **Videos in a default private workspace:** they see only what's shared with them from now on. See [Default private or default shared Libraries](/coaching/teach-and-share/library-visibility-and-sharing-options-default-private-or-default-shared.md).

## Make a coach an admin (iPhone and iPad)

Admins can change the workspace's settings and remove people. Touch and hold the coach's name and tap **Make** *name* **Admin Of Workspace**. To undo it, tap **Revoke** *name* **As Admin Of Workspace**.

This isn't on Android or web yet.

## Remove a coach

You need to be an admin of the workspace.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. Touch and hold the coach's name.
2. Tap **Remove** *name* **From This Workspace**.
   {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. Open the menu next to the coach's name.
2. Tap **Remove** *name* **From This Workspace**.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

They lose the workspace's chats and the videos other people shared there. Videos they added to the workspace stay in it.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| --------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| No **Add Existing Staff Member** option | It only appears in an organization. Use **Add External Person** instead. |
| The coach you added is asked to pay | People with the **Coach** or **Other** role need their own coach plan. |
| You can't remove a coach | Only admins of the workspace can. Ask the coach who runs it, or your organization's admin. |
| The new coach can't see older videos | The workspace is default private: share the videos they need with them, or switch the Library to default shared. |
| The invite code doesn't work | Ask them to type it exactly as sent, or copy and paste it. If it's already been used, send a new invite. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/coaching/organize-your-athletes/how-to-add-a-parent-and-or-coach-to-a-workspace.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
