# Record your screen to show us a problem

Record your phone or tablet screen to show the Onform support team a problem, such as an error, a video that won't play or a step that doesn't work, then email it to support\@onform.com.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

When something in Onform isn't working, a short screen recording often shows us in seconds what would take several emails to describe: the error, a video that freezes, or a code that won't go in. Your phone or tablet has a screen recorder built in.

## Steps

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. Open **Control Center**: swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen.
2. Tap the **Screen Recording** button (a solid circle inside a ring). If you don't see it, touch and hold an empty space in Control Center, tap **Add a Control**, and choose **Screen Recording**. On iOS 17 or earlier, add it in **Settings** > **Control Center**.
3. Wait for the three-second countdown, then close Control Center.
4. Open Onform and do the steps that cause the problem.
5. To stop, tap the red recording indicator at the top of the screen, then tap **Stop**.

The recording is saved in your **Photos** app. Want us to hear what's happening too? In step 2, touch and hold the **Screen Recording** button and turn on **Microphone** before you start.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open **Quick Settings**.
2. Tap **Screen record** (on some phones it's called **Screen recorder**). If you don't see it, tap the edit button and add it.
3. Choose whether to record sound, then tap **Start**.
4. Open Onform and do the steps that cause the problem.
5. To stop, swipe down and tap the screen recording notification.

The recording is saved in your gallery. The steps and names vary a little between phone makers.

**Using the web app?** Your computer can record its screen too: on a Mac, press Shift, Command and 5; on Windows, use the Snipping Tool's record option. A screenshot of the error also helps.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## Send it to us

1. Email the recording to <support@onform.com> from the email address you sign in to Onform with.
2. In the email, tell us your device, which app you're using (iPhone, iPad, Android or web) and what you expected to happen.

Keep the recording short and focused on the problem. If it's too large to attach, trim it in Photos or your gallery first. If we ask for your app logs as well: on iPhone and iPad, tap your profile icon on the Home screen, then the settings icon, then **Send Logs To Support**. On Android, tap your profile picture on the Home screen, then **Send logs to support**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/coaching/record-and-import/record-the-screen-on-your-iphone-ipad-or-ipod-touch.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
