# Save or export videos

Save a copy of your Onform videos to Photos or Files on iPhone and iPad, to the Downloads folder on Android, or to your computer from the web app, one at a time or several at once.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

Save a copy of any video outside Onform: to Photos or Files on your iPhone or iPad, to your Android phone's Downloads folder, or to your computer from the web app. It's handy for keeping a backup, editing a clip in another app, posting it online, or moving your videos to another account.

## Before you start

* The video needs to have finished uploading. If it's only in the cloud, Onform downloads it first, so you need a connection.
* You can save videos you added and videos shared with you, unless the person who shared it has restricted sharing. See [Stop others re-sharing your videos](/coaching/teach-and-share/the-restrict-sharing-option-explained.md).
* Keep Onform open while it saves. On iPhone and iPad, a download stops if you switch apps or your screen locks.

## Save a video

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. In the Library, touch and hold the video. (Or open the video and tap **Share** at the top.)
2. Tap **Share**.
3. On **Select Recipients**, tap the **⋯** button at the top right.
4. Tap **Share To Other Apps**. If the video isn't on your device yet, Onform downloads it first.
5. Choose where it goes:
   * **Save Video** puts it in your Photos app.
   * **Save to Files** puts it in the Files app, on your device, iCloud Drive or another cloud drive.
   * Or send it straight to another app, or AirDrop it to your Mac.
     {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
**Android:**

1. In the Library, tap the three dots next to the video.
2. Tap **Save to Downloads Folder**. If your phone asks for permission to save files, allow it.
3. When you see **Saved to Downloads Folder**, open your phone's Files app and look in **Downloads**.

To save it somewhere else, such as Google Photos or Google Drive, tap **Share to other apps** instead and pick the app.

**Web app:**

1. In the Library, click the three dots next to the video.
2. Click **Save to Downloads Folder**. Your browser saves it to your computer's Downloads folder.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

## Save several videos at once

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. In the Library, tap **Select** and tap each video you want.
2. Tap the share button (on iPad it says **Share**).
3. Tap **⋯** at the top right, then **Share To Other Apps**.
4. Tap the save option with the number of videos (for example **Save 5 Videos**) to put them in Photos, or **Save to Files**.

Keep Onform open and your screen on until it finishes. For a big library, save in smaller batches rather than all at once.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. In the Library, touch and hold a video to start selecting, or tap the menu at the top and choose **Select**.
2. Tap each other video you want.
3. Tap the three dots at the top, then **Save to Downloads Folder**.

On the web, your browser may ask whether to allow Onform to download several files: allow it. If some videos don't arrive, save those one at a time.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## What you get

* **The video as it was filmed.** Lines and shapes you drew on a video aren't part of the saved file. To keep your drawings and your coaching, [record a Voice-over](/coaching/analyze/how-to-record-a-voiceover.md): it's saved as its own video with your voice and drawings, and you save it the same way.
* **Multi-Cam videos** save as one file for each camera angle.
* **The file name** comes from the video's title (on Android and the web, also the person and tags on it). Give the video a title first if you want a tidy name.

## If someone has restricted sharing

When the person who added a video turns on restrict sharing, nobody else can share, save or copy it. You'll see "Sharing this video has been restricted. Please contact the owner of the video to enable sharing." Ask them to send it to you or to turn sharing back on. The owner can always save their own videos.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| "Sharing this video has been restricted" | Only the person who added the video can save it, or turn sharing back on. |
| **Share** or the save option isn't there | The video hasn't finished uploading yet. Wait until it has, then try again. |
| A network error, or the download never finishes | Check your phone or tablet has free storage: a full device can show up as a network error. Keep Onform open with the screen on, try Wi-Fi, and turn off any VPN. |
| "File cannot be downloaded because WiFi is unavailable" (iPhone and iPad) | Join Wi-Fi, or allow mobile data: tap your profile icon on the Home screen, then the settings icon, and turn on **Backup Files Over Cellular (If Available)**. |
| On a Mac, saving several videos only offers **Add to Photos** | Use **Add to Photos**, or save them from an iPhone or iPad, where you can choose **Save to Files**. |
| On the web, there's no save option while the video is playing | Close the video and use the three dots next to it in the Library. |
| The saved file won't play on your computer | Try a different video player. The file itself is fine if it plays on your phone. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/coaching/teach-and-share/save-videos-to-your-device.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
