# Not getting notifications?

New messages and videos from your coach or athletes aren't showing up as notifications. Most common cause first, with fixes for iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

Onform notifies you when someone sends you a message or shares a video with you, when someone watches a video you shared, and when someone joins your workspace. If those have stopped arriving, notifications are usually turned off for Onform on that device. Start with the first section and work down.

## 1. Notifications are turned off for Onform

This is the most common cause, especially if you tapped **Don't Allow** when Onform first asked.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. Open a workspace. If you see **Stay Connected**, tap **Allow Notifications**, then tap **Allow** if your iPhone asks. If you said no before, this takes you straight to the right settings screen.
2. No **Stay Connected** message? Open your iPhone or iPad **Settings**, tap **Onform** (under **Apps** on newer versions), then **Notifications**.
3. Turn on **Allow Notifications**, and check that **Lock Screen**, **Notification Center** and **Banners** are ticked.

The **Stay Connected** message stops appearing after you close it a few times, so step 2 always works.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
**Android:**

1. Open Onform. If it shows **Notification Permission**, tap **Open Settings**.
2. Otherwise, open your phone's **Settings**, tap **Apps**, then **Onform**, then **Notifications**.
3. Turn notifications on for Onform.

**Web:**

1. Click the icon next to your browser's address bar (often a padlock or a settings icon).
2. Allow notifications for the site, then reload the page.
3. Still nothing? Check your computer's own notification settings and make sure your browser (for example Chrome or Safari) is allowed to show notifications.

If Onform shows **Notification Permission** with an **Enable Notifications** button, click it and then allow notifications when your browser asks.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

## 2. You're signed in to a different Onform account

Notifications go to the account your coach invited (or the account your athletes joined). If the app on this device is signed in to another account, for example one made with Apple sign-in on a new phone when you first used Google, you won't get them. A sign that this is happening: your coach, team or recent videos are missing too.

1. On the Home screen, tap your profile icon and look under **Logout** to see how you're signed in (for example "Signed in with Google").
2. If that's not how you usually sign in, log out and sign back in the usual way.

See [Sign-in methods and more than one account](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/sign-in-and-accounts/sign-in-methods-and-more-than-one-account.md).

## 3. Focus or Do Not Disturb is hiding them

Your phone may be holding notifications back rather than not receiving them.

* **iPhone and iPad:** if a **Focus** such as Do Not Disturb, Sleep or Work is on, notifications are silenced. Open **Control Center** to check, or add Onform to the Focus's allowed apps in **Settings** > **Focus**. If you use **Scheduled Summary**, Onform's notifications may arrive in the summary instead of straight away.
* **Android:** check **Do Not Disturb** in your quick settings, and turn it off or allow Onform.

## 4. The app needs a refresh

1. Update Onform from the App Store or Google Play.
2. Log out and sign back in, **using the same sign-in method as before**. When you next open a workspace, Onform asks for notification permission again: tap **Allow**.

Before you log out, check that no videos are still waiting to upload. See [Why are my uploads stuck?](/help/troubleshooting/why-are-my-uploads-stuck.md)

## 5. Nothing was sent to you

You're only notified about things shared with you, or with a group you're in. If your coach shared a video with your child but not with you, or messaged someone else, you won't get a notification for it. Ask them to include you when they share.

## Still stuck?

Email <support@onform.com> from the email you sign in with, and include:

* Your device (for example iPhone 15, Android phone, or Chrome on a Mac) and its software version
* Your Onform app version ([how to find it](/help/troubleshooting/how-to-find-your-app-version.md))
* Which notifications are missing (new messages, new videos, "watched" notices) and from which workspace
* Roughly when you last got one
* A screenshot of Onform's notification settings on your device

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/help/troubleshooting/notifications-not-arriving.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
