# Share recruiting clips

Pick your best reps, title and star them, and send them to college coaches as a link, an email or a video file. For coaches, athletes and parents.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Trimming is on iPhone and iPad, and **Share To Other Apps** isn't in the web app.

There's no separate recruiting tool in Onform. You use the same sharing you use every day to send a college coach or scout a link to your best clips. Coaches can do this for their athletes, and athletes and parents can do it for themselves.

## Before you start

* The clips need to be in Onform and finished uploading.
* Athletes and parents can send their own videos, and videos their coach has shared with them. If a coach has restricted sharing on a clip, you'll see a message saying so: ask the coach to send it for you, or to turn sharing back on.

## 1. Pick your best reps

College coaches are busy, so less is more. Choose a handful of clean, recent reps that show what they're looking for: a few bullpen pitches from the side and from behind, a 60 or 100 meter race from start to finish, a set of serves, or a full swim length.

On iPhone and iPad, cut each one down to just the rep: open the video, tap the **…** button at the top, then tap **Trim Video**. Save it as a new video so you keep the original.

## 2. Give each clip a clear title

The title travels with the clip: it shows next to the link when you send it by email. Include who, what and when, for example "Jordan, class of 2028, 100m start, May 2026".

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}
In the **Library**, touch and hold the clip and tap **Edit Title**. (Or open the clip, tap the **…** button, then **Edit Title**.)
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
In the **Library**, tap the three dots next to the clip, then tap **Edit Title**.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

You can retitle clips you recorded or imported yourself. For a clip your coach recorded, ask them to add the title.

## 3. Star them so they're easy to find

Starring keeps your recruiting clips together as the season goes on, so you're not hunting for them when a college coach asks.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. Open the clip and tap the **…** button at the top.
2. Tap **Star**.

To see them all later, search the **Library** for **Starred**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
In the **Library**, tap the star on the clip, or tap the three dots next to it and choose **Add to Starred**.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

You can also tag clips you added, for example "Recruiting": in the **Library**, touch and hold the clip (iPhone and iPad) or tap the three dots next to it (Android and web), then tap **Edit Tags**.

## 4. Add your coaching notes (optional)

Most college coaches want the raw rep first. If you want to point something out, such as a new grip or a faster first step, record a short [Voice-over](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-record-a-voiceover.md) and send it alongside the raw clip, not instead of it.

## 5. Send the clips to a college coach

Select one clip or several, then:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. Touch and hold the clip and tap **Share**. For several, tap **Select** in the Library, tap each clip, then tap the share button.
2. On **Select Recipients**, tap the **…** button at the top right.
3. Choose how to send them:
   * **Share Via Email**: opens your email app with a link to each clip and its title. Add the college coach's address and a short note.
   * **Copy Link**: copies the links so you can paste them into a text, a direct message or a recruiting profile.
   * **Share To Other Apps**: sends the video files themselves, for example to upload them somewhere else.
     {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. Tap the three dots next to the clip. For several, touch and hold one clip, tap the others, then tap the menu at the top.
2. Choose how to send them:
   * **Share via email**: opens your email app with a link to each clip. Add the college coach's address and a short note.
   * **Copy Link**: copies the links so you can paste them into a text, a direct message or a recruiting profile.
   * **Share to other apps** (Android only): sends the video files themselves.
     {% endtab %}
     {% endtabs %}

Onform doesn't send the email or message for you: it goes from your own email or messaging app, so you'll find it in your Sent folder.

## What the college coach can do

* **Open the link and watch the clip in a web browser.** They don't need to use Onform. If they have the Onform app, the link may open there instead.
* If you sent the video files with **Share To Other Apps**, they have their own copy.

Anyone who has a link can watch that clip, so only send links to people you mean to. Making a clip private in Onform afterwards doesn't stop a link you've already sent from working.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| "Sharing this video has been restricted" | The clip's owner, usually your coach, has stopped it being shared. Ask them to send it, or to turn sharing back on. |
| The college coach says the link won't play | Ask them to try again on a good connection, or in a different browser. You can also send the file itself with **Share To Other Apps**. |
| Your email app doesn't open | Use **Copy Link** and paste the links into an email yourself. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/programs/recruiting/share-recruiting-clips.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
