# Turn on 3D and download the AI models

Download Onform's AI models so golf 3D and the skeleton work on iPhone and iPad, then turn 3D on for a swing or stop it starting on every video.

Works on: iPhone and iPad.

Golf 3D, the 2D skeleton and golf practice swing detection use AI models that live on your iPhone or iPad, so they work without an internet connection. Onform downloads the models by itself when you open the app online. Fetch them yourself when Onform asks you to, on a new device, or after you update the app or upgrade your plan.

## Before you start

* Connect to the internet. Wi-Fi is quickest.
* Make sure you have at least 500 MB of free storage.
* Update Onform from the App Store.

## Download the AI models

1. On the Home screen, tap your profile icon.
2. Tap the settings icon.
3. Scroll down to **AI Models** and tap **Fetch Latest AI Models**.
4. Keep Onform open while it shows **Fetching latest AI models**. It can take a few minutes on a slow connection.
5. When you see **Fetch successful**, close any video you had open and open it again.

Use more than one iPhone or iPad? Do this on each one: every device keeps its own copy of the models.

## Turn 3D on for a swing

There's no 3D switch to turn on in Settings. You make 3D for a swing from the video itself:

1. Open a golf swing video filmed at 120 fps or higher.
2. Tap the **AI tools** button (the sparkles icon) at the top.
3. Tap **Show 3D**.

For what makes a video work for 3D and what you'll see, see [Analyze a swing in 3D](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/sports/golf/golf-analysis/using-3d-data-and-visualization.md).

## Make 3D start on its own, or stop it

If you set a panel in the video player to **3D**, Onform makes 3D for every golf video you open, and remembers that layout.

* **To turn it on:** open a video, tap the small button at the left of a panel (it shows **1** or **CAM 1**) and choose **3D**.
* **To turn it off:** tap the button at the left of the 3D panel and choose a camera, or tap **Layout** and choose **1-Panel View**.
* **To stop a 3D that's running:** open **AI tools** and tap **Stop Generating**.

## If something goes wrong

| **AI models fetching has failed. Please check your network and retry.** | You're offline. Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data and tap **Fetch Latest AI Models** again. |
| **Couldn't download the AI models** or **Couldn't get the key that unlocks the AI models** | Check your connection, then try again. A different Wi-Fi network can help. |
| **Couldn't read the list of AI models** | Wait a few minutes, then try again. |
| **Couldn't save the AI model key on this device** | Unlock your iPhone or iPad, keep Onform open, and try again. |
| **The AI models were downloaded but couldn't be unpacked** | Free up storage (at least 500 MB), then try again. See [How to manage storage space](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/help/troubleshooting/how-to-manage-storage-space.md). |
| 3D still says it needs the AI models after a successful fetch | Close the video and open it again. If that doesn't help, close Onform completely and reopen it. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/set-up/how-to-enable-3d-processing-and-download-the-latest-ai-models.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
