# Find an athlete, team or video

Find an athlete or team from the Onform Home screen, search your whole organization, and find a video in your Library by tag or date.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Searching for videos in the Library and **Jump to Date** are on iPhone and iPad only.

With a long roster or a full season of video, scrolling gets slow. Here's how to jump straight to the swimmer, team or rep you're looking for.

## Find an athlete or team on Home

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap the **Filter** bar at the top of the list.
2. Type part of a name, for example "Maya" or "U14".
3. Home narrows to the athletes, teams and Collections that match. Tap one to open it.

Clear the bar to see everything again. If nothing matches, you'll see **No matches found. Please refine your search.**
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap the search bar at the top.
2. Type part of a name.
3. Home narrows to the matching athletes, teams and Collections. Tap one to open it.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

This only searches your own Home screen. If you're in an organization, make sure you've picked the right account in the account switcher (it shows **Personal Account** or your organization's name, at the bottom of Home on iPhone and iPad and at the top on Android and web). See [Switch between your organization and your Personal Account](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/teams-and-rosters/organizations-and-personal-account.md).

## Search your whole organization (staff and admins)

If your organization has it, coaches and admins can search every athlete, team and Collection in the organization, including ones you don't work with yet.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. In your organization, tap the magnifying glass at the top of the Home screen.
2. Type a name in the search box, for example **Search Golfers or Teams** (it uses your sport's word for athletes).
3. Tap a result to open it. If you don't have access yet, tap **Request access**.

Search needs a connection. Without one, your own workspaces are still on the Home screen.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. In your organization, tap the search bar at the top of the Home screen. It shows your organization's name, for example **Search Eastside Swim Club**.
2. Type a name.
3. Tap a result to open it. If you don't have access yet, tap **Request access**.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

What you might see next to a result:

| What you see | What it means |
| -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Request access** | You can't work with this athlete or team yet. Tap it to ask your organization's admins. |
| **Waiting on an admin** (iPhone and iPad) or **PENDING** (Android and web) | You've asked. Tap the request to cancel it. |
| **Join** (iPhone and iPad) | You can add yourself to this team or Collection straight away. |
| **Coach this athlete** (admins, iPhone and iPad) | The athlete is in your organization but not in a workspace yet. Tap it to start one. |

How access works and how admins approve requests: [Access and access requests](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/staff-seats-and-access/access-and-access-requests.md).

## Find a video

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}
**Search by tag, title or person:**

1. Open an athlete's or team's **Library** to search just that workspace, or **Library - All Files** on Home to search everything.
2. Tap the search bar and type a tag, a title or a person's name, for example "Backstroke" or "7 Iron".
3. Tap a suggestion to turn it into a filter. Add more filters to narrow it down.

More on titles, tags and filters such as **Starred** and **Voice-over**: [Stay organized with titles, tags and search](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/stay-organized-with-titles-tags-and-search.md).

**Go to a date:**

1. In a Library, start scrolling. **Jump to Date** appears.
2. Tap it, pick the day the video was filmed, and tap **Done**.
   {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
There's no Library search or **Jump to Date** on Android or the web yet. Videos are listed newest first, by the date they were filmed, so scroll to that day. Clear titles help you spot the right video.

To search by tag, use the iPhone or iPad app.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

An older video you imported is filed under the day it was filmed, not the day you imported it.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| An athlete you coach isn't on your Home screen | Check you're in the right account (your organization or **Personal Account**). In an organization, you may not have access yet: search the organization and tap **Request access**, or ask an admin. |
| There's no magnifying glass on Home (iPhone and iPad) | Organization search is only for coaches and admins in organizations that have it. Use the **Filter** bar instead. |
| **Org search needs a connection** | Connect to Wi-Fi or mobile data and try again. Your own workspaces are still on the Home screen. |
| A Library search finds nothing | Check the spelling and that you're in the right Library: a workspace's Library only searches that workspace. Try **Library - All Files**. |
| A video you just recorded on another device isn't there | It may still be uploading from that device. See [Why are my uploads stuck?](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/help/troubleshooting/why-are-my-uploads-stuck.md) |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/set-up/search-and-find.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
