# Baseball and softball

How baseball and softball coaches, facilities and players use Onform: Auto-Detect, radar speed, Multi-Cam, Compare, Voice-over and where to start.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Auto-Detect, Sport-Radar, Multi-Cam and the 2D skeleton are on iPhone and iPad only.

Film a swing in the cage or a pitch in the bullpen, slow it down to the frame that matters, and send your player a Voice-over that shows exactly what to change and what to drill next. Everything on this page works the same for baseball and for fastpitch softball.

## Who uses Onform in baseball and softball

* **Facility owners and academy directors**, who want every hitting, pitching and catching coach on staff coaching to one standard.
* **Facility staff coaches**, often specialists, who need to capture a rep and send feedback between sessions.
* **Private hitting and pitching coaches**, who want players drilling the right thing at home and coming back for the next lesson.
* **College coaches and their staffs**, tracking every player's mechanics across a big roster.
* **High school, club and travel team coaches**, for whom good video is also how players get noticed by college programs.
* **Players**, working with a coach or training on their own, and **parents**, who want to see progress on the path to the next level.

## Baseball and softball tools in Onform

| Tool | What it does | Read more |
| ---------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Auto-Detect** | Watches your player and records each swing or pitch on its own, so you can coach without touching the camera. Each rep becomes its own video. On newer iPhones and iPads, with a plan that includes it. | [Record video in Onform](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/recording-modes.md) |
| **Sport-Radar** | Connect a Pocket Radar Smart Coach or a Stalker radar. Each reading records the rep and puts the speed on the video: pitch velocity, or exit velocity off the bat. A Stalker can also show peak velocity and spin rate. | [Use a Pocket Radar or Stalker radar](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/sports/hardware/radars-and-other-devices/how-to-setup-pocket-radar-with-onform.md) |
| **One-Tap** | Tap at contact or release and Onform keeps the seconds before and after. No long clips of waiting between pitches. | [Record video in Onform](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/recording-modes.md) |
| **Multi-Cam** | Films the same rep from up to four angles at once with extra iPhones or iPads, for example the open side and behind the plate, already in sync. | [Record from several angles with Multi-Cam](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/how-to-use-the-multi-cam-feature-to-record-multiple-camera-angles-simultaneously.md) |
| **Slow motion and frame by frame** | Record at 120 or 240 fps and step one frame at a time to stop on foot strike, release or contact. | [Analysis tools at a glance](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/analysis-tools.md) |
| **Drawing and angle tools** | Draw the bat path, mark the arm slot with a line that shows its angle, or measure the front knee or elbow with the angle tool. | [Using the Angle Tool](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/using-the-angle-tool.md) |
| **2D skeleton** | Draws a skeleton over your player with joint angles that update as they move. Works best with one person in the video. On plans that include it. | [Analysis tools at a glance](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/analysis-tools.md) |
| **Compare** | Today's swing next to last month's, or a player's delivery next to a model video you've imported, with **Link** to step them together. | [Compare two videos](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-compare-videos.md) |
| **Voice-over** | Talk your player through the rep while you pause and draw. They can watch it as many times as they need. | [Record a Voice-over](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-record-a-voiceover.md) |
| **Tags** | Starter tags for your sport, such as Hitting, Pitching and Fielding, so you can find every bullpen session later. | [Stay organized with titles, tags and search](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/stay-organized-with-titles-tags-and-search.md) |
| **Recruiting clips** | Send a college coach a link to a player's best reps, straight from the Library. | [Share recruiting clips](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/recruiting/share-recruiting-clips.md) |

**Auto-Detect** and **Sport-Radar** show in the camera when the workspace you're recording in is set to baseball or softball, or in **Library - All Files** when that's your own sport. If they're missing, check the sport on your profile and on the team. See [What sports can I use Onform for?](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/what-sports-can-use-the-onform-app.md)

{% hint style="info" %}
**Golf only for now:** 3D swing analysis, the kinematic sequence, launch monitors and the pressure mat. Onform doesn't include model videos for baseball or softball: [import your own](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/import-videos.md) to use in Compare.

Some tools depend on your plan. See [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/sports/baseball-softball/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
