# Every sport

Coaching swimming, tennis, bowling, ice hockey or any other sport? How to set your sport in Onform, the tools that work for every sport, and quick tips.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Some tools, such as Multi-Cam, Sport-Radar and the angle tool, are on iPhone and iPad only.

Onform works for any sport where you can film a movement and coach it. Coaches use it for swimming, tennis, bowling, ice hockey, gymnastics, volleyball, dance, weightlifting, fly fishing and well over a hundred more. If your sport doesn't have its own hub, this page is for you, and everything in **Coaching**, **Programs and teams** and **Athletes and parents** applies to you too.

## Set your sport

Your sport sets the words Onform uses, such as Golfer or Swimmer, the starter tags it suggests, and which sport-specific tools you see.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap your profile icon, then **Edit Profile**.
2. Tap **Primary Sport** and search for your sport.
3. Tap it. If it isn't in the list, type its name and tap **Select your sport as** followed by the name.
   {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. On the Home screen, tap your profile icon.
2. Tap **Select Sport** and choose your sport.

If your sport isn't in the list, pick the closest one and email <support@onform.com> to ask us to add yours.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

Each team and athlete workspace also has its own sport, which you choose when you create it. If you coach more than one sport, set each team to its own sport. See [What sports can I use Onform for?](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/what-sports-can-use-the-onform-app.md)

3D swing analysis and launch monitors are golf only, and Auto-Detect is for golf, baseball and softball. Some tools depend on your plan. See [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).

## Tips for your sport

### Swimming

* Film from the side of the pool for stroke and kick, and from the end of the lane for alignment.
* For underwater video, film with a waterproof camera such as a GoPro and [import it](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/import-videos.md).
* Starter tags include Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, Starting Block and Flip Turn.
* Give swimmers the **Swimmer** role and parents the **Parent** role when you invite them.
* The 2D skeleton can struggle with water and splash, so lean on lines and angles instead.

### Tennis

* Use **Sport-Radar** with a Pocket Radar or Stalker radar to put serve speed on every serve.
* **One-Tap** works well for groundstrokes: tap at contact to keep the preparation and follow-through.
* Starter tags include Forehand, Backhand, Serving, Volley, Lob, Drop Shot and Smash.
* Compare a player's serve with last month's, side-on and from behind the baseline.

### Bowling

* Film the approach and release from behind and from the side, and step through the slide and release frame by frame.
* Starter tags include Armswing, Delivery, Slide, Release and Follow Through.
* Compare this week's release with an earlier session to check it's repeating.
* Sport-Radar isn't available for bowling.

### Ice hockey

* Use **Sport-Radar** with a radar to put shot speed on every shot.
* Step through a stride frame by frame and measure knee bend and stride length with the angle and distance tools.
* Starter tags include Skating, Shooting, Passing, Checking and Goal Tending.
* Short clips of one skill work better than long game footage.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/sports/every-sport/readme.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
