# Record with Multi-Cam MAX

Record lessons with Multi-Cam MAX: connect your iPad to a bay's cameras, record with Manual, One-Tap, Auto-Detect or Launch-Monitor, and review every angle.

Works on: iPad. A Mac running the Onform app also works. iPhone and the Android and web apps can't connect to fixed cameras.

Once a bay is set up, recording with its fixed cameras works much like recording with the iPad: open the camera in your athlete's workspace, record, and the video lands in their Library with every angle in sync. Your iPad is the remote: you never need to touch the PC.

## Before you start

* The bay is set up. If not, see [Set up Multi-Cam MAX](/sports/launch-monitors-and-golf-hardware/how-to-use-multi-cam-max.md).
* The PC in the bay is on, with the Onform Camera Connector running.
* Your iPad is on the same Wi-Fi as the PC, and Onform is up to date.
* You're in your organization. If the account switcher at the bottom of the Home screen shows **Personal Account**, tap it and switch to your organization.

## Connect to the bay

{% embed url="<https://www.youtube.com/embed/zow4_hQmIb8>" %}

1. Open your athlete's workspace and tap **Library**, or tap **Library - All Files** on the Home screen.
2. Tap the record button to open the camera.
3. Onform reconnects to the bay you used last on this iPad, if it's free. If it doesn't, tap **Multi-Cam** at the top left, then **Connect to** and the bay's name.

When you're connected, the iPad's own camera turns off and you see a live preview from each fixed camera. The preview is lower resolution and about a second behind; your recordings are full quality.

The **Multi-Cam** menu shows each bay in your organization:

| What the menu shows | What it means |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Connect to Bay 1** | The bay is free. Tap to connect. |
| **Connected to Bay 1** | You're connected. Tap it to find **Disconnect**. |
| **Bay 1 in use by** and a name | Another iPad is connected to that bay. Only one iPad can use a bay at a time. |
| **Bay 1 offline** | Onform can't reach the bay's PC. Check the PC is on, the Camera Connector is running, and the iPad is on the same Wi-Fi. |

Connecting to a bay disconnects any iPhones or iPads linked as extra cameras. A session uses either the fixed cameras or mobile devices, not both.

## Record

1. Tap the mode name above the record button and choose a mode:
   * **Manual:** tap record to start and again to stop. Recordings with several cameras are up to 20 seconds long.
   * **One-Tap:** tap record as the swing happens, and Onform keeps the seconds before and after.
   * **Auto-Detect:** Onform records each full swing on its own, hands-free. Only one camera watches for the swing: tap **...** on that camera's preview and choose **Use This Camera For Auto-Detect**. For golf, use the face-on camera.
   * **Launch-Monitor:** connect your launch monitor as usual. Each shot is recorded from all the fixed cameras with the ball and club numbers added.
2. Record. After each recording, give it a few seconds while the videos come across from the PC. At high frame rates the files are large, so a strong Wi-Fi network makes this quicker.
3. Tap the new video to watch all the angles together, already in sync.

The modes you see depend on your sport, your iPad and your plan. See [Record video in Onform](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/get-started/how-onform-works/recording-modes.md) for more on each mode and its settings.

If the light in the bay changes, for example as daylight fades, tap **...** on a camera's preview and choose **Auto-Calibrate Exposure Settings**. For the other camera settings, see step 4 of [Set up Multi-Cam MAX](/sports/launch-monitors-and-golf-hardware/how-to-use-multi-cam-max.md).

## Watch and share the angles

Videos with more than one angle are marked with a multi-angle icon in the Library. Open one and tap **Layout** to choose **1-Panel View**, **2-Panel View**, **3-Panel View** or **4-Panel View**. From there, use the drawing tools, [Compare](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-compare-videos.md), [record a Voice-over](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-record-a-voiceover.md) or [share the video](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/teach-and-share/how-to-share-videos-to-one-or-multiple-people.md) as with any Onform video.

## Go back to the iPad's own camera

1. Tap **Multi-Cam**, then **Connected to** and the bay's name, then **Disconnect**.
2. Tap **Multi-Cam** again and turn off **Set As Control Device**.

The iPad's camera comes back on. Next time you open the camera, connect to the bay again from the **Multi-Cam** menu.

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **No Cameras Connected** | Tap **Multi-Cam** and connect to your bay. If you meant to use the iPad's camera, turn off **Set As Control Device**. |
| The bay isn't in the **Multi-Cam** menu | Switch to your organization with the account switcher on the Home screen. Bays belong to the organization, so they don't show on your Personal Account. |
| **Bay 1 offline** | Check the PC is on and the Camera Connector is running in its system tray. Make sure the iPad is on the same Wi-Fi as the PC. |
| **Bay 1 in use by** and a name | Another iPad is connected. Ask that coach to disconnect, or close the Onform camera on that iPad. |
| **MultiCam Max Subscription Required** | Multi-Cam MAX isn't active for this bay in your organization. Email <support@onform.com> from the address you sign in with. |
| **Onform Camera Connector is out of date** | Update the Camera Connector on the PC from [onform.com/downloads](https://onform.com/downloads). |
| A camera's preview is missing | Check that camera's cable at both ends and that no other program on the PC is using it, then restart the Camera Connector. |
| Videos are slow to arrive, or some angles are missing | The Wi-Fi is too busy or weak for the file sizes. Use a dedicated Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7 network, or lower the frame rate with **Set FPS** on a camera's **...** menu. |
| The picture is dark or blurry | Use **Auto-Calibrate Exposure Settings**, add light, or lower the frame rate. Blurry in the recorded video too? Refocus the lens at the camera. |

Still stuck? Email <support@onform.com> and tell us which bay, what the **Multi-Cam** menu shows, and what the Camera Connector shows on the PC.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/sports/golf-analysis/using-multi-cam-max.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
