# Use the Garmin Approach R10 with Onform

Connect a Garmin Approach R10 to Onform on iPhone or iPad over Bluetooth so every swing records its own video with ball speed, spin, launch and club numbers attached.

Works on: iPhone and iPad. Launch monitors aren't in the Android or web app.

Connect your Garmin Approach R10 and Onform records every swing for you. When the R10 picks up a shot, Onform saves a short video of that swing with the R10's numbers attached, plays it back, and waits for the next one. No tapping record, so you can coach or practice hands-free.

## Before you start

* **A plan that includes launch monitors.** If yours doesn't, you'll see an upgrade message when you choose **Launch-Monitor**. See [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).
* **A golf workspace.** The golf launch monitors show in the camera when the workspace's sport is golf, or in **Library - All Files** when golf is your sport.
* **Set up the R10 in the Garmin Golf app first**, on the same iPhone or iPad. Once it's paired there, you don't need to pair it again for Onform.
* **Bluetooth on** for both your device and the R10, and allowed for Onform: open your device's **Settings**, tap **Onform** and make sure **Bluetooth** is on.

## Connect the R10

1. Turn on the R10 and set it up behind the ball, following Garmin's setup guide.
2. In Onform, open your golfer's workspace and tap **Library**, or tap **Library - All Files** on the Home screen.
3. Tap the record button to open the camera.
4. Tap the mode name at the top of the camera (for example **Manual**), tap **Launch-Monitor**, then tap **Use Garmin R10**.
5. Wait a few seconds. The status in the camera goes from **Looking for Garmin R10** to **Connecting with Garmin R10**, then **Garmin R10 Ready**.

## Hit shots

Set the camera up from any angle, on a tripod or in your hand, with your golfer in frame. Then hit.

* **Garmin R10 Ready**: waiting for a shot.
* **Garmin R10 Busy**: the R10 is picking up a swing.
* **Garmin R10 Standby**: the R10 is resting. It wakes up again on its own.

Each swing becomes its own short video in the Library and plays back straight away. To stop the playback after each shot, tap the mode name, then **Launch-Monitor** > **Launch-Monitor Settings**, and turn off **Enable Auto-Playback**.

To tag each video with the club, tap the golfer button in the camera and pick a club in **Select Club**. The R10 itself doesn't use this setting.

## See the numbers on the video

Open the video from the Library. The R10's numbers show with the video.

* **Choose which numbers show:** tap the numbers (or tap **Layout**, then **Edit Metrics**). In **Select Metrics**, turn each one on or off, and switch speeds between **MPH** and **KPH**.
* **Hide or show them:** tap **Layout**, then **Hide Metrics** or **Show Metrics**.

| Ball                                                             | Club                                                          |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Ball Speed, Launch Angle, Launch Direction, Back Spin, Side Spin | Club Speed, Club Path, Face Angle, Face To Path, Attack Angle |

The R10 doesn't send carry or total distance to Onform, so you won't see those on the video.

## Add more angles with Multi-Cam

The R10 can start a Multi-Cam recording too. Link your extra iPhones or iPads with **Auxiliary-Cam**, then choose **Launch-Monitor** > **Use Garmin R10** on the main device. Every camera records each shot. See [Record from several angles with Multi-Cam](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/record-and-import/how-to-use-the-multi-cam-feature-to-record-multiple-camera-angles-simultaneously.md).

## If something goes wrong

| What you see | What to do |
| ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Turn bluetooth on to connect to launch monitor** | Turn on Bluetooth in Control Center or **Settings**, and check Onform is allowed to use it (**Settings** > **Onform**). |
| It stays on **Looking for Garmin R10** | Check the R10 is on and charged, and that you've set it up in the Garmin Golf app on this device. Then close and reopen the Onform camera. |
| An upgrade message when you choose **Launch-Monitor** | Your plan doesn't include launch monitors. See [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/). |
| You see radar options instead of **Use Garmin R10** | The workspace's sport isn't golf. Record in a golf workspace. |
| **Garmin R10 Not level** | Set the R10 on flat, level ground. |
| **Garmin R10 Overheated** | Let it cool down, out of direct sun, then try again. |
| **Garmin R10 Saturated** | The R10's radar is overloaded. Check its position and distance from the ball against Garmin's setup guide, then try again. |
| **Garmin R10 Unknown Error** | Turn the R10 off and on, then close and reopen the Onform camera. |
| No carry distance on the video | That's expected: the R10 doesn't send distances to Onform. |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/sports/launch-monitors-and-golf-hardware/how-to-use-the-garmin-r10-with-onform.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
