# Quick start: coach a high school, club or travel team

Set up your school, club or travel team in Onform, invite athletes and parents, and share your first feedback clip in your first week.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web.

For school, club and travel team coaches who want to give every athlete feedback without losing their evenings to video. By the end of your first week, you'll have your team set up and one clip shared with an athlete or their parents.

You need a coach plan, or a coaching seat from your school or club. See [Who pays for Onform?](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/plans-and-payments/who-pays-for-onform.md) and [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).

## 1. Create your team

1. On the Home screen, tap **+**, then **Add New Team**.
2. Enter your team name and choose your **Sport**.
3. Choose who sees new videos:
   * **Files Are Default Private**: each clip stays private until you share it. Best for one-on-one feedback.
   * **Files Are Default Shared**: every clip is visible to the whole team as soon as it's added.
4. Tap **Add**.

Coaching more than one squad, like JV and varsity or 12U and 14U? Create a team for each. How many teams you can have depends on your plan.

## 2. Invite your athletes and their parents

Every invite is a **5-character code** that's **case-sensitive** and works **once**, so each athlete and each parent needs their own. Athletes and parents you invite use Onform free.

1. Open your team and tap **+** next to **Members**.
2. Tap **Add Athlete** (the word matches your sport, for example **Add Swimmer**), or **Add Parent**.
3. Enter their name and tap **Send Invite**. Send the code by text, email or any messaging app.

You'll see **pending join** next to each name until they accept. Short on time? Invite one athlete and their parent this week and add the rest of the roster as you go. For re-sending codes and fixing roles, see [Invite your athletes](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/organize-your-athletes/invite-your-athletes.md).

## 3. Record and give quick feedback

1. Open your team's **Library** and record a rep with the Onform camera, or import a clip you've already filmed.
2. Open the clip and draw a line or angle to show what you see. See [Finding and Using the Drawing Toolbox](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/finding-and-using-the-drawing-toolbox.md).
3. For more than a quick note, record a short **Voice-over**: you talk the athlete through the clip while you draw, and Onform saves it as a new video. See [How to record a voice-over](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-record-a-voiceover.md).

Thirty seconds on one key point is plenty, and your athletes can watch it as often as they like.

## 4. Share the clip with your athlete and their parents

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. In your team's **Library**, touch and hold the clip, then tap **Share**.
2. Select the athlete and their parents.
3. Tap **Next**, add a message if you like, then tap **Share With 2 Recipients** (the number matches how many people you picked).
   {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. In your team's **Library**, tap the three dots next to the clip, then tap **Share**.
2. Select the athlete and their parents.
3. Tap **Send** (it reads **Send Separately** when you pick more than one person).
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

The clip shows up in their chat and their **Library**. That's your first win.

Keep one athlete's feedback between that athlete, their parents and you. The **Everyone** group reaches the whole team, parents included, so save it for team-wide clips like a drill demo.

## 5. Send clips to college coaches

There's no separate recruiting tool. You use the same sharing to send clips to people outside Onform, like a college coach.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}
Touch and hold the clip and tap **Share**. Then tap the **…** button at the top right and choose **Copy Link**, **Share Via Email** or **Share To Other Apps**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}
Tap the three dots next to the clip and choose **Copy Link**, **Share via email** or **Share to other apps**.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

For choosing reps and building a highlight set, see [Share recruiting clips](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/recruiting/share-recruiting-clips.md).

## You're set up

Once your first clips are going out, try these:

* Bring families along: [Keep parents informed](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/athletes-and-parents-in-your-program/keep-parents-informed.md)
* Put two reps side by side with Compare: [Compare videos](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-compare-videos.md)
* Make groups inside your team, such as pitchers, sprinters or bowlers, and decide when to use teams, one-on-one workspaces or Collections: [When to use individuals, teams or collections](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/teams-and-rosters/when-to-use-individuals-teams-or-collections-to-stay-organized.md)
* Add an assistant coach: [Staff, seats and roles](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/staff-seats-and-access/staff-seats-and-roles.md)

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/start-here/school-club-coach.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
