# Quick start: coach a college or pro team

For college and pro coaches and analysts: set up your roster, bring in your staff, compare a rep with an athlete's best and share it in week one.

Works on: iPhone, iPad, Android and web. Compare and Voice-over need the iPhone, iPad or Android app.

For head coaches, position coaches and performance analysts at a college or pro program. By the end of week one, your roster will be in Onform and you'll have shared your first comparison with someone on your staff.

Your coaching seat usually comes from your school, club or team. If your program isn't set up yet, see [Who pays for Onform?](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/account/plans-and-payments/who-pays-for-onform.md) (schools and universities can get academic pricing) and [onform.com/pricing](https://onform.com/pricing/).

## 1. Set up your roster

1. On the Home screen, tap **+**, then **Add New Team**.
2. Enter your team name and choose your **Sport**.
3. Choose who sees new videos. **Files Are Default Private** keeps each video private until you share it, which suits most college and pro programs. **Files Are Default Shared** shows every video to the whole team.
4. Tap **Add**.
5. Open your team and tap **+** next to **Members** (on iPhone and iPad, tap the three dots next to the team name first).
6. Tap **Add Athlete** (the word matches your sport, for example **Add Swimmer**), enter their name and tap **Send Invite**.

Every invite is a **5-character code** that's **case-sensitive** and works **once**, so each athlete needs their own. You'll see **pending join** next to each name until they accept. For re-sending codes and checking roles, see [Invite your athletes](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/organize-your-athletes/invite-your-athletes.md).

Adding a big roster? Email <support@onform.com> and we'll help you get everyone in.

## 2. Bring in your staff

Assistant coaches, position coaches and analysts each need a coaching seat on your program's plan, or their own coach plan. People with a seat don't pay.

* **Your program is an organization in Onform** (its name shows in the account switcher on Home: at the bottom on iPhone and iPad, at the top on Android and web). An admin taps the organization's name, then **Manage Staff** (or **Manage Organization**), and taps **Add Staff**. Choose the role (pick **Other** to type your own, such as Analyst), enter their name and send them the invite code. Then add them to your team: tap **+** next to **Members**, then **Add Existing Staff Member**.
* **Your program isn't set up as an organization.** Tap **+** next to **Members**, then **Add External Person**. They need their own coach plan.

Then make a group for your staff, so you can share with them without the athletes seeing it. In your team, tap **+** next to **Groups**, pick your staff, name the group (for example "Staff") and tap **Create Group**. A group needs at least two people besides you; with one staff member, share with them directly.

Out of seats? Email <support@onform.com>. For more on seats and roles, see [Staff, seats and roles](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/programs/staff-seats-and-access/staff-seats-and-roles.md).

## 3. Compare a rep with their best

Star an athlete's best reps as you go, so they're easy to find when you want a benchmark.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. To star a rep, open it, tap the three dots and tap **Star**.
2. Open today's rep and tap **Compare** (on iPhone it may show as an icon of two screens).
3. Choose the rep to compare it with. Your starred reps are under **Starred**: in the **Folders** tab on iPhone, or in the list on the left on iPad.
4. Tap **Link** to play both reps in sync. Turn your device sideways for side by side, or upright to stack them. Tap the layout button to lay one over the other.

You can also start from the Library: tap **Select**, choose two videos, then tap **Compare**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. To star a rep, tap the three dots next to it in the Library, then **Add to Starred**.
2. In the Library, tap the menu at the top and tap **Select**.
3. Choose today's rep and the rep you want to compare it with, then tap **Compare**.
4. Use **Link** to play both reps in sync.

If **Compare** doesn't appear, open each video once so it's saved on your device, then try again. Compare isn't available on the web.
{% endtab %}
{% endtabs %}

For drawing lines and angles on a comparison, see [How to compare videos](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/how-to-compare-videos.md) and [Using the Angle Tool](https://github.com/Onform-Inc/onform-docs/tree/main/coaching/analyze/using-the-angle-tool.md).

## 4. Share the comparison with your staff

To share a comparison, record a Voice-over of it. Your staff see both reps and your drawings, and hear what you noticed.

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="iPhone and iPad" %}

1. With both reps on screen, tap the microphone (**Record voice-over**) and talk through the difference, drawing as you go.
2. Tap stop, then **Save**.
3. On **Select Recipients**, choose your staff group (or a staff member). Tap **Next**, add a message if you like, then tap **Share With 1 Recipient**.

If the sharing screen doesn't open, find the Voice-over in the team's **Library**, touch and hold it, and tap **Share**.
{% endtab %}

{% tab title="Android and web" %}

1. With both reps on screen, tap the microphone and talk through the difference, drawing as you go.
2. Stop recording, then tap **Save**.
3. In the team's **Library**, tap the three dots next to the Voice-over, then **Share**.
4. Choose your staff group (or a staff member) and tap **Send**.
   {% endtab %}
   {% endtabs %}

That's your first comparison shared, and your staff are working from the same picture.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.onform.com/start-here/team-coach.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
